The big book chains couldn't have cared less, the newspapers were totally disinterested UNTIL I mentioned to a reporter on our local newspaper that I was a butcher...yes, a female butcher. A butcher who could write?
'My, my, there's a novelty,' giggled the reporter. I guessed this must be my USP.
There followed exposure in not only the local paper but 4 nationals, all accompanied by toe-curlingly embarrassing photographs of me with a meat cleaver in one hand and a pen in the other. I also got 2 interviews on Beeb radio. Himself was teased for months about my 'sexy' writing and adolescent boys yelled 'Sexy Sue' at me in the street. It was mortifying!
Would I do it again to sell a novel? Probably!Sue Houghtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14147561434172961209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5611561027305931377.post-68793237281960677502009-12-08T12:28:39.205+00:002009-12-08T12:28:39.205+00:00I read this with great interest as its been on my ...I read this with great interest as its been on my mind, too.
