Competition Monthly for May!

It's time to welcome Francesca, once again, with another competition round-up.

Last Sunday I worked on a one page story for a competition I knew closed on the Monday. I left it overnight, planning a final edit before I sent it off the next day. Working on other writing first, I came back to it at 11.30am the following morning, opened up the web page for instructions, only to find it had closed at 10.00am. Oh dear. I'd assumed that, as with most other competitions, it closed at midnight.

The moral of this tale? Always check the closing time of a competition as well as the date. Another
moral could be, send it off well in advance of the date!

The Wells Festival of Literature's A Book for Children competition, one that I was shortlisted in last year, has come round again. If you've got a book suitable for the over nine's or teens, why not give it a go?

Good luck to everyone, and don't forget to let us know of any competition success you have.
